TNF: AFC East Battle: Can the Patriots continue to shock people?

Thursday Night Football is here and we’ve got ourselves an AFC East rivalry between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets.

NFL

NEW ENGLAND MAY LACK TALENT, but under rookie head coach Jerod Mayo. The Patriots are 2-0 against the spread this season, including an outright win in Cincinnati in Week 1.

After a rough start in Week 1 the Jets were able to bounce back with a 24-17 comeback win over the Tennessee Titans.

The Jets have Breece Hall who has been extremely important to this offense in just two weeks of play. Hall has 207 all-purpose yards so far this season. The Patriots however are and have been a defensive powerhouse, ranking fifth in points allowed and 11th in yards allowed.

So how should you bet on this game?

Teams that play on Thursday’s have a shorter week of preparation as they head into the game. Road teams have gone 30-31 SU and 38-22-1 ATS in TNF contests from 2019 through the 2023 regular season.

Teams averaged 23.7 points per game last season on Thursday night. Despite Aaron Rodgers getting closer to his regular form with each week we’ve seen him play, this Patriots offense is far from reliable. I expect this to be a defense heavy, tight, low scoring affair.
